New Year, New Blog Entry

New Year, New Blog

I haven’t touched this blog for quite some time? You know why? I’ll tell you. I’ve been SUPER BUSY. What with? You ask. Taking classes, that’s what. I’m currently in FIVE classes, and I feel like I am in undergraduate school again because these classes are about writing, and so, they require writing.

SHOCKER.

I don’t know when I will be finished pretending I am a full-time student, I’ll let you know.

What else is new? Hm. I am still blindly hopeful about my New Year’s resolutions to increase my productivity, become more organized and go to the gym three days a week for the rest of my life. I’m also due to clean up my Etsy shop and fit in some freelancing time.

Basically, I’m trying to keep myself so busy I don’t have time to think about turning on MSNBC. When I do that; I feel like crying.

Have fun at the Women’s March, I’ll be ignoring everything in my writer burrow. I trust you’ll do a fantastic job and not get arrested.

Peace.

Well, hello there, blog.

16_multiflora_rose_graphicsfairyI’ve been busy taking classes, revising a novel, drafting another one and reworking a submission package.

I feel like I’ve evolved in my writing life, a place where I can look back and shake my head in shame at various writings and efforts that got me here. I suppose that’s a good thing.

I’ve added a coursework section in the about dropdown at the top of this page. Check it out if you’re interested!

Best,

Em

Social Media Black Out

When I ran around with a bunch of musicians, I noticed the most responsible ones would take intermittent dry spells, giving up drinking alcoholic beverages a few times each year to make sure they didn’t accidentally turn into alcoholics while they played in college bars four nights a week.

Like any fast, the forced evolution of perspective may just be the most valuable result. Well, that and not succumbing to addiction or illness.

I think the idea translates well to social media, so I decided to try it in January while I’m struggling to implement a few more healthy habits into my lifestyle. It is working, but that doesn’t mean I’m not feeling it.  Continue reading
